Happy Mom’s Day to me. I am so grateful to be mom to my two beautiful kids. They make everyday an adventure, for sure. And I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. This morning dad made me coffee and brought me the paper. I enjoyed reading the paper and drinking coffee. Dad kept the kiddos entertained while I relaxed. After reading the paper we went outside. Dad put in the new malibu lights with the kiddos help. The kiddos were all into helping daddy. I got some gardening done. Then the kiddos came to help me while dad went inside and fixed out downstairs toilet. Look at this I got new lights and a fixed toilet for mom’s day-HA! We took it easy at home and played. I read the kiddos some books, we played with blocks, and colored. The kids made grandma a flower bouquet out of paper-it came out really cute. We were just busy doing things at home. The kids played hungry hungry hippos and we listened to music. After lunch the kiddos watched some Curious George and Clifford. Then we headed out. Dad got called for work, ugh. So the kids and I went and did some errands. We got our fridge straightened out and then we ran to Target. We met the family at a park near Uncle Alan’s house. The kids had a great time. We ran down the huge hill. I carried Nikki up it-very challenging. The kids went in the swings and played on the play structure. They fought over who was going to push Tierney. And of course they had to be monkeys on the monkey bars. It was a nice park with beautiful scenery. I hope someday the kids and I can go for a walk on the paths. Great place to take pics too, I think. After we went to a place named Corkey’s for dinner. We ate way too much. The kids got breakfast and loved it. Alan and Roberta surprised me with a beautiful Louis Vutton clutch, purse. My first LV purse, now I am spoiled. Can’t wait to use it on a night out with Bret. We got home and the kiddos were tired. I caught up with dad while the kids played a few games of Wii. We headed upstairs and only read one book. We just cuddled with the kids an extra long time. Both fell right to sleep.

Happy birthday to me. Nothing too special about birthdays anymore. We had a regular fun family day. The kiddos had soccer this morning. Our neighbor Andree came to watch. We also discovered that a neighbor plays on Justin’s team. The kids both did great at soccer and seemed to have fun. Nikki loves when we all cheer for her. Justin and Nikki both got a few goals. It was so hot out there today and the kids were troopers running around. After we got some lunch then decided to head to the lagoon in RSM. Since we were so confused on the plans today we invited my parents to join us. The water was so cold. It didn’t stop the kiddos though. Justin was a little apprehensive, I had trouble getting in the water too. Nikki pretended to be Shamu and went under water. Once you got in the water it was probably warm but it took a while. The kids had a great time, playing in the sand too and making holes in the sand. They filled the holes with water. I can’t wait until the lagoon warms up, summer is right around the corner. We got home and realized we had no idea what was for dinner. We decided to go to the pizza place. Justin and Nikki were so excited. The pizza place=games. They could have stayed in the game room the whole time. Justin barely eats there since he would rather play games. Guess swimming makes Nikki hungry as she ate so much pizza. At the pizza place we let the kids get something out of the quarter machines. Nikki wanted a care bear. She got the yellow care bear and apparently Justin wanted one too. He got the pink one. Nikki cried and cried as she wanted the pink one. I was surprised Justin didn’t just give it to her. We tried to explain to Nikki that Justin will grow tired of it quickly and give it to her soon. Dad had to do a little work tonight. We came home and all had cupcakes together. Then it was upstairs time. I tried to distract Nikki by telling her the care bear needed to meet all her animals. She has so many animals that is took a while. She still had a hard time getting over the fact that Justin got the pink one. We did pretty good getting the kids to bed on time. I have a feeling Nikki will be up sometime to go potty. Dad is doing some more work. I am going to play on the computer and relax. Looking forward to another day being all about me (mother’s day) tomorrow.

Yesterday I had a pre school board meeting that went until almost 11:00, ugh, so I didn’t blog. But I did have to mention the kids gave me awesome mom day presents that they made at get ready for kinder. Justin did a handprint with a sweet poem and Nikki gave me a picture of herself holding a baby chick. These things made my day yesterday. I felt like the luckiest mom ever.

This morning I dropped the kiddos off at school. I came home and did lots of gardening. It seriously took me all day to hedge. I picked the kiddos up and they had more mom’s day gifts for me. They made me shrinky dink heart necklaces that are so cool. Even hedging today I wore them. They also made me cards and the kids answered questions. These are the questions and answers (Nikki’s answers are first):

-My mom is 28 /46 years old. Then Justin said I don’t know maybe I should ask her. It doesn’t matter what number, 46 is good

-My mom likes to eat salad/hangabers (hamburgers)

-My mom always wears black clothes that matches her pants/she wears all her clothes sometime

-Her favorite TV show is Hannah Montana/cars and mommy shows

-She cooks the best mac and cheese/pizza, Apple pie (with the apple pie Justin was referring to the German baked apple pancake I made)

-These things make my mom mad if I push someone/hitting Nikki

-What I like to do with my mom get my nails done and alone time/race, play cars

-These are the things that my mom does she plays with me, she plays doll house with me, she picks me up and does the happy dance/I ask her to race and she said yes

-What my mom likes best about me when I won a medal in ice skating class/hugging-she loves hugs. If I love her she loves me

I had some laughs at some of the answers. I have the best kids ever. So we stayed and played outside of pre school for a bit then came home. Grandpa came over so we could be with him on his birthday. Grandpa played with the kiddos a bit, swung them on swings, gave them cupcakes, played Wii, then the kiddos helped me pick up all the leaves from hedging. They were super fast and really helpful. The kids were pretending to pick apples and collect some thing that grows on the ivy. They were also sweeping and using my clippers to trim the ivy. We had so much fun outside that we were pretty much out there all afternoon. They did show grandpa the Wii and did come in to take a shower. Right before the shower the kids had fun soaking themselves with the hose. They took a shower together and had a great time. They have been playing nicely today. We had dinner then dad and the kiddos went to desert night at the pre school. Weird here without anyone at night. I decided to put my ipod on and go for a walk. I walked to pre school so dad could drive me home. The kids had so much fun at pre school tonight. They were having fun being naughty and staying up late. They did a scavenger hunt too, Justin found a motorcycle and Nicole found a journal and pencil. Even outside pre school they wanted to play. With flashlights they were running around, it was fun. However it is 9:20 and we just got the kiddos to bed. I hope they sleep in tomorrow morning.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

May 5th, 2010 by melissa

Off to pre school the kiddos went this morning. They got on the bikes there and wanted me to go away so they could bike. They still gave me great big hugs. I ran to the grocery store to get a few things. I figured since it was cinco de Mayo I should make something Mexican, so after looking around I came up with nothing. I think I will order food to go tonight. I stayed home and made some calls for pre school and watched a little TV. I picked up the kiddos and we headed to the park to meet some friends. First we went to the wrong park, so we didn’t get much time with our friends. The kids ate lunch real quick then were into playing. Mostly playing in the sand and Justin wanted to swing. We weren’t there that long but we had fun. We came home and the kids were so fighty, ugh.  I ended up giving the kiddos a bath. Justin actually took a nice fast shower and Nikki took a bath. Justin stayed naked for a while and raced the cars in the living room. Both picked out their clothes then we were off. We went to yogurtland for a one yr celebration. We got free yogurt and balloon animals. Well balloon swords with belts around their waists. The swords didn’t last too long and started to pop while we were playing on the greenbelt. Dad came home and the kids played on the greenbelt a bit, soccer. Then we went for a family walk. Nicole took her doll stroller with Chip/Dale, Rainbow bear, and Lucky bear. Justin took his dog on the skateboard. Nikki has a cat one but someone is borrowing it. She was so sad about it but Justin shared his doggie. Nikki is in love with the dog and wants to sleep with it. The walk was nice but we were stopping so much so the dog could do tricks, ugh. Dad and Justin came home to play Wii while Nikki and I walked a little further. I have a love/hate relationship with that Wii-I know the kids love it but somehow they forget to listen. I am wanting to get them to bed on time and they were just wanting to play Wii. We read a few books. Justin named his dog on the skateboard, Drinky because he drinks a lot. We had the dog stuffed animals play.

We got ready to go to the grocery store to get some snacks for play group. The kids don’t mind going to the grocery store since I have made it so much more fun. We are the Sander’s Team, we say go team. The kids carried the baskets and helped shopped. It was a quick trip as we didn’t need too much. I let them play Wii until their friends got here. I barely know how to turn on the Wii but Justin does. Our friends came over this morning and the kids seemed to have fun. The girls dressed up. The kids gathered instruments and practiced shows for us. It was cute. I haven’t been upstairs and am worried it is messy, but the kids had fun and that is all that matters. After everyone left we had a quick lunch as we needed to get to our get ready for kinder class. I dropped the kiddos off and did a few errands. I just took my time….then I went to pick the kiddos up. I love the big hugs I get when I pick them up. They showed me their drawings of plants, flowers, etc. They showed me their journals as well. We played outside there for a while, the kids rode bikes. Nikki really wanted someone in her trailer. We came home and just played outside. It was a really nice day. Justin played soccer on the greenbelt for a while then the kids wanted to paint. We got the easel out and the kids made lots of beautiful pictures. They are so proud of their artwork. Dad came home and we had dinner. After dinner we went upstairs and the kids played roll the ball. I tried working on Nikki’s bed. Dad read some books. I tried to cuddle with the kids a little extra tonight thinking that some day they won’t want me too.

Yesterday we had a fun day. The kids went to soccer. Justin scored about 4 or 5 goals. He was a one man team, the other 3 people on his team were not really interested in playing. Nikki did really well. She played rabbit and fox, dribble your ball and tag someone with your ball then grab their pinny hanging out from their waist. After soccer Justin and Nicole played soccer together and we just hung out at the field and relaxed. At home we did water balloons. The kids got soaked and discovered it was fun to make it rain, throw the water balloons on top of the patio cover. Nikki and I went to get our toes painted. Nikki got chicks on her toes and it was nice to be out with her alone. Dad and Justin went to Home Depot. When I got home Justin couldn’t wait to show me what they bought at Home Depot. We went to our next door neighbors for dinner. There was also another  neighbor there that had a 4 yr old as well. It was really nice. Although they served Mexican food, Bret loved it me not so much. Our kids spent most of the time watching TV. We didn’t get home until 8:00 and the kids were crazy hyper. They were dancing around, laughing, trying to pick each other up, etc. We were laughing so we just let it go on. I think we got them to bed @ 9:00.

This morning no one slept in, ugh. The kids did some puzzles and we read them books. When we came downstairs it was all about the Wii. The kids made lots of pics. Some for teacher appreciation at pre school, Grammy for mother’s day, etc. They had fun doing water colors. We finally got our lawn mowed. Seriously it was really bad. Nicole helped dad mow with her little mower. While they were busy mowing Justin and I were playing with remote control cars. Dad also started working on laying new wire for our new malibu’s. We decided to go look at possibly buying a new fridge. So we tried to go to one store and it was closed, so frustrating. We did have lunch over by there at our favorite sandwich place though, Lil Pickle. We stopped at Great Indoors and Best Buy. The kids were great. They had fun playing with all the appliances. At Best Buy they were able to play with the Wii. We felt so bad dragging them around everywhere that we stopped at Yogurt Land for a treat for the kiddos. Then we went to Carters and Lowes. The kids were getting crabby at this point, so we did try to let them play outside for a bit. Finally we just let them watch TV and relax. We made some dinner and dad played Uno with the kiddos. Upstairs I read lots of books and the kids went right to bed. They were tired. As far as a new fridge, we have bought one but just changed it to a different one. We still aren’t sure but wanted to lock in the pricing.

I woke up a ton of times last night, ugh I hate that. I have been sleepy all day now. I worked at pre school today. The kids helped me set up. We set up a big obstacle course and the highlight was playing kick ball. The kids did great and it was so cute. Justin and Nikki were really good kickers, I know I am bias but it is true. There was a field trip to the firehouse today. So fun. I think the kids liked squirting the hose the best. The kids got to climb and sit in the fire truck. Here are some pics from the firehouse:

When we got back to school Ms. Donna read a book then it was sharing time. The kids brought Lady and Tramp. So funny everyone thought they had Chip and Dale, Nikki was so happy she fooled everyone. It is not often I have my camera at school so here are some pics from sharing:

After sharing we had snack then headed outside again. Nikki and Justin just wanted to play more kickball. We came home and had lunch. I convinced them to go to the grocery store. I made a big deal that we were team Sanders and we would have fun there. The kids got lots of samples and helped pick out food. They ended up having a good time and they picked out a pig cupcake to share after dinner. It was funny when they couldn’t agree on which cupcake and I said then we weren’t going to get one, they immediately agreed. The kids helped bring in groceries and put things away. I love when they are so helpful. I then tortured the kids and made them take a bath. Justin actually took a quick shower as he wanted to race cars. Nikki took a bath and pretended that she had a drink stand. She had every drink available. We went outside after bath. The kids pretended to be dogs and I threw a frisbee for them. Finally they decided it was more fun to play just frisbee. While we were outside dad came home. The kids watched a little TV while we made dinner. The kids had their minds on their cupcakes but ate a fairly decent dinner. After dinner Nikki and I went up to play doll house together. Then we colored as well. Dad and Justin raced cars. We read lots of books and the kiddos went right to bed. I always worry about fairness between the kids. Justin is always quick to give in to his sister. I am trying to make sure we read in both rooms and he gets some say. Dad may be up late tonight doing some work. Luckily only a few more days on call.

It was nice as Bret and I got some time together last night. This morning the kids played Wii for a bit. Then they played with cars and Lady and Tramp. They played really well. I cleaned out some drawers and did some stuff on the computer. Time for spring cleaning, I guess. We met some friends at the park this morning. It was so windy. In the sun it was really nice but there was a cold wind. The kids bundled up and I made sure I was in the sun. The kids had a great time at the park with their friends. They went on the play equipment, hung like monkeys, see sawed, and played in the sand. Justin and Nicole borrowed their friends razor scooters and were really liking them, We rushed home and had lunch. Then I dropped the kiddos off at get ready for kinder. I did some more stuff for membership for pre school then Tierney came over. At first she was grumpy then we just sat on the couch together. She was getting sleepy, so she napped on me. I tried to put her down but she is now spoiled and requires being held while sleeping. Oh well I enjoyed the cuddling. We went to pick up Nikki and Justin. The kids were so excited that T was there. T loved playing. She crawled, walked, tried to eat leaves, sand, and sticks. She had a blast. Now she is all dirty for her parents. We played in the play room with her. Nikki and Justin built towers for her and T knocked them down. We let T watch the race cars but she kept grabbing for the cars bugging N&J so we just played together. After T left the kids wanted to be outside, I feel so windblown. They cut the grass and worked on their soup. We had an early dinner since daddy is going to kindergarten round up. The kids played Wii while we waited for our neighbor to come over. I am babysitting while they all go to the round up tonight. We all had a picnic first, then played Lincoln Logs for a bit. The kids played really well together. We got out so many toys, fishing, My Little Pony, laptops, etc. I tried to clean up in between so I didn’t have a big mess tonight. I read a lot of books and the kids went to bed a little late.

Justin got up at his normal time but Nikki slept in a little bit. Since we had to get to pre school I went up and opened her shutters. We brought Ms. Donna an orchid and candy for teacher appreciation week. The kids were so excited to give her the stuff. I love that they are as excited about giving people things as getting things. I stayed at school for a bit and read some books with Nikki. Justin preferred to go outside and play. When I left he was busy riding bikes. I decided to go shopping for myself. I am so sick of all my clothes and wanted to treat myself since I have lost some weight. I haven’t gotten on the scale though to see how much. I missed the kids while I was out. It is definitely strange being by myself. I went by the Disney store and went in. Going in made me think of the kids more…so I bought them a Lady and a Tramp stuffed animal. After picking up the kids we played outside for a bit. Then I told them the story of me going to the mall and two animals wanted to come home with me and gave them their animals. They were so excited. It has been a few hours now and they haven’t stopped playing with them. They fed them, bathed them, made a bed for them, brushed their fur, etc. I wish we could get them a real dog but someday. Luckily we get to borrow Zoe. The kids dresses up and did a show for me. Justin had sun glasses on and a scarf and dress up shoes. Nicole had her cheerleading outfit on. Then I made the kiddos take a bath. Love clean kiddos! We headed to the library for story/craft time. The kids made kind of like stained glass butterflies. Whoever is sitting in the seat near the window sticks Lady or Tramp out of the window and barks. The kids played Wii while we made dinner. After dinner we headed out to Baskin Robbins for $.31 cones. We waited in line for about 20 minutes or so. The kids just went with the flow and played while in line. They were very happy with their chocolate chip cones. All 4 of ours for $1.25. When we got home the kids found some rope. They decided to walk each other like dogs. Then dad tied the rope around their waists and they were playing tug of war-pulling each other, making the other one go. Nikki was laughing so hard. Everyone is in bed and it is quiet.

Getting the house ready for the cleaners wasn’t too bad today since I cleaned up on Sunday for the photography thing. The kids helped me clean up the play room (they were looking to get pennies). I let them play Leapsters for a bit while I finished putting things away. Then we headed to Blue Gum Park. We met some friends there. The kids had a great time. They mostly played in the sand and with water. They did swing a bit too. They played really well with their friends. Justin is always so nice to everyone, if someone wants help or feels left out he is always willing to help. We ran out and got some sandwiches then I dropped the kiddos off at get ready for kinder. When I picked them up, they were so excited to show me the patterns they made. They glued foam balls to a strip of paper and made patterns. I took the kids to the library for a folktale show. It ended up being the library fairy. I surprised the kids and didn’t tell them I invited grandma/pa to meet us. The show was really cute and Nicole asked the fairy if she knew Tinkerbell. Nicole’s face was priceless when she said yes. It was fun to watch the kids smile, laugh, and participate in the show. The show was really cute. After we just played on the grass outside of the library. The kids wanted to play tag and run around. Grandma/pa tried to keep up but these kids are fast. They did play hide n seek and follow the leader. We decided to have dinner all together. Bret met a friend, Bob tonight for dinner. The kids had a fun time at dinner, ate so much. On the way home we were missing Bret. So we popped in at the restaurant where he was to say hi. The kids were so excited to see daddy. We stayed for a bit then headed home. At home the kids wanted to play and play but it was late. They did play golf for a few minutes and that was about all they needed. We read books and off to bed. Justin has just become more and more affectionate-I love it. I just eat it up, he always says I love you so much mommy, I love you more than you love me…..I hope he is always this loving.
